What to know before evaluating your document-question requirements.
What is DocAI for?
DocAI / Knowledge Assistant helps you ask questions against a defined project's ready documents and inspect the answer with its supporting evidence.
Can I add several documents?
Yes. The picker and drag-and-drop workflow support multiple files in one project, processed one file at a time. Check the current upload requirements and document readiness in the workspace.
Do all uploaded files immediately support answers?
No. Only ready project files can ground a new answer. Review processing and failed states; the workspace reports upload and processing issues for you to address.
Can scanned documents be processed?
Scanned PDFs and images can use OCR fallback. Processing still depends on file quality and backend guardrails; very large scans can be rejected. Check readiness before asking.
Does every response have document evidence?
No. The response can be grounded, no-support, out-of-scope or conversational. Review the answer mode and available evidence rather than assume every response is supported by your files.
Are all citations exact page references?
No. Page and context anchors are shown where available. Some sources have only a file-level excerpt. Retrieved excerpts are supporting context, not full-document reproductions or guaranteed exact paragraph citations.
How does Early Access relate to the trial and beta?
Early Access describes product maturity. Start Free uses the existing 14-day trial with lower limits. Larger evaluations use the existing beta application and team approval; there is no separate access-request system.
Can I review earlier answers?
Yes. Return to the project's conversation, select the relevant turn and open its Evidence view. The citations, sources and document-state snapshot belong to that selected answer.
How do I apply for a larger evaluation?
Use Apply for the DocAI Beta to reach the existing product-specific application. Our team reviews your document requirements and confirms the fit for an evaluation.
